Core competence of greenovation Biotech GmbH, founded in 1999, is the effective optimization and production of pharmaceutically highly efficient glycoproteins in contained photo bioreactors.

Products und Services

greenovation Biotech GmbH offers products und services for the pharmaceutical industry und enterprises in the field of biotechnology. It has innovative technologies for production and refinement of complex pharmaceutical proteins in moss cells. The photo-bioreactor, developed by greenovation, is a safe and cheap platform for the production of therapeutic biopharmaceuticals with special features and improved efficacy, e.g. for cancer fighting antibodies.

Glyco-engineering

By specific genetic modifications of the cell expression system, the sugar structures of the produced proteins can be adapted to those of the human being. This techno-logy opens therapeutic possibilities for the proteins gained from plant cells wider than conventional therapeutics and is up to now unique for plant production systems.

greenovation Biotech GmbH headquatered in Heilbronn its research laboratory in Freiburg was founded in September 1999 by the university professors Gunther Neu-haus and Ralf Reski as spin-off of the laboratory of the University of Freiburg. Apart from its founders and employees, „L-EigenkapitalAgentur” (Karlsruhe), „Mediport Venture Fonds II” (Berlin), „Seed-Group” (Tübingen) as well as „Zukunftsfonds Heilbronn” are engaged as investors.

Since begin of the marketing in 2006, a range of customers have been gained from Asia, Europe and the USA. Due to long development times in the pre-clinical phase, no product of greenovation Biotech GmbH is available in clinics yet. Nevertheless, since the past year, the enterprise has already generated significant sales by production and efficacy optimization of therapeutic proteins, employed in preclinical studies.
